October 30, 2009 Day in College set for Nov. 13 at College of Technology at ColumbusCOLUMBUS, Ind. - Purdue's College of Technology at Columbus will give high school seniors a chance to experience college life during its fourth annual Day in College event Nov. 13.The event will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Columbus Learning Center. Students interested in attending can obtain a registration form from their high school guidance counselor; the Purdue College of Technology at Columbus Web site at http://www.tech.purdue.edu/columbus/; or by contacting the Student Services office at 812-314-8526. Registration deadline is Friday (Nov. 6). Participants will experience what it’s like to be a college student for a day. Students and parents will meet with Purdue faculty and participate in a series of interactive classes relating to management, leadership, engineering and computer information systems. There also will be a session on the admissions and financial aid process. A panel of current Purdue College of Technology at Columbus students will discuss how college requirements differ from high school requirements, academic goals and campus life. Area business representatives from REMC and Space Port Indiana Inc. will share information about their respective business, trends in technology, and internships and career opportunities for students and graduates. High school seniors, who complete the Day in College experience and later apply for admission, may also qualify for a Purdue College of Technology at Columbus or PLTW scholarship for fall 2010. The Purdue College of Technology at Columbus offers bachelor’s degrees in computer and information technology, industrial technology, mechanical engineering technology, and organizational leadership and supervision. It is one of three educational institutions located at the Columbus Learning Center. Also at the center are Ivy Tech and Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus. The institutions share space at the center but are governed by three separate organizational entities.
