Bulger to coordinate Purdue's academic strategic plan
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Nancy Bulger has been appointed to the newly created position of assistant provost at Purdue University to coordinate and oversee the academic portions of the university's strategic plan.
"I am extremely pleased to have attracted someone of Nancy Bulger's quality to this key position," said Provost Sally Frost Mason. "She brings both talent and years of experience to this new position."
Bulger's appointment was effective Jan. 1. She will be responsible for collecting information relative to strategic and academic plans. Bulger also will coordinate and facilitate all aspects of program reviews for the academic units, research and write reports relevant to the academic and research missions of Purdue, and represent the university in a variety of venues on and off campus.
"I look forward to the opportunity to help lead academics and research at Purdue to the next level," Bulger said. "This new position is key to ensuring that Purdue excels in academic and research arenas."
Bulger has worked as the Purdue administrative director for a number of federally grant-funded centers including the NASA University Research, Education and Technology Institute for Nanoelectronics and Computing; National Science Foundation Network for Computational Nanotechnology; and Engineering Research Center for Collaborative Manufacturing.
Bulger, who has worked at Purdue since 1971, previously served as an academic adviser and administrative assistant in what are now known as the schools of Liberal Arts and Education. She also worked for the Schools of Engineering from 1985 to 2002.
Bulger earned her master's and doctorate degrees in education from Purdue in 1971 and 1984, respectively. In 1969 she received her bachelor's degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
