Purdue police arrest man for pot possession

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University police today (Tuesday, 4/1) arrested a 21-year-old man for marijuana possession.

Germanul D. Northern, 209-5 Airport Road, Purdue Village, was charged with possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana. Northern is not a Purdue student.

The events that led to Northern’s arrest began Monday evening when a Purdue student called Purdue police to report an alleged strong-arm robbery at 10:45 p.m. in the parking lot northwest of McCutcheon Hall.

Ron Fosnaugh, Purdue captain of special services, said the investigation led police to Northern. He was booked into jail at 5:56 a.m. and released without bond at 6:27 a.m.

Possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine.

Fosnaugh said the case is still under investigation and requests any witnesses to the McCutcheon Hall parking lot fracas, which involved a 1999 silver Toyota Forerunner, to call Purdue police at (765) 494-8221.
