WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Fans of Purdue University football can choose from two packages to travel to Orlando, Fla., to watch the Boilermakers face the Georgia Bulldogs on Jan. 1 in the Capital One Bowl.
The tours, offered by the Purdue Alumni Association in partnership with Conlin Athletic Tours, both run from Dec. 28 through Jan. 1.
The Boiler Special Tour costs $1,339 per person (based on double occupancy) for round-trip airfare to Orlando and a four-night stay at the Gaylord Palms Resort Hotel. The Black & Gold Tour costs $1,550 per person (based on double occupancy) for round-trip airfare, a four-night stay at the Peabody Orlando, continental breakfasts on Dec. 29-31 and a special New Year's Eve celebration.
Both packages include the welcome reception, transportation to the game, a Boilermaker pep rally, a pre-game tailgate brunch and a Purdue Capital One Bowl souvenir. Game tickets are $70 each and are not included in the tour price.
There also is a student tour that runs from Dec. 29 through Jan. 2. The tour, which does not include airfare or game ticket, costs $349 (based on double occupancy) and includes a four-night stay at the Caribe Royale Resort, pep rally and game-day transportation.
"We have arranged several exciting packages," said Larry Preo, executive director of the Purdue Alumni Association. "Our deluxe headquarters will be the lovely Peabody Orlando, the official Big Ten team hotel."
The Peabody Orlando is a four-star hotel located on Orlando's International Drive. The Gaylord Palms Resort Hotel, also a four-star hotel, is located in the Kissimmee/St. Cloud region.
Tour package options include an agricultural tour, the Capital One Bowl Kickoff Luncheon and New Year's Eve celebration (included in the Black & Gold Tour).
"Our programs include many attractive features," Preo said. "Overall, you can be assured of a quality bowl tour, enjoyed in the company of your fellow Purdue alumni and friends. We invite all Purdue fans to share this wonderful experience with us and help cheer the Boilermakers on to victory."
Tour reservations are being taken with the option of air travel from Purdue Airport or Indianapolis International Airport. Preo said plans are currently to depart from both airports, however, West Lafayette departures are not guaranteed.
