'Discover Purdue' TV program continues through end of March

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – "Discover Purdue," The 2004 version of Purdue University's weekly news and feature magazine television program, continues for one more month, running through the end of March.

Guests on the five programs airing in March include Margaret Moan Rowe, Purdue vice provost for academic affairs, and student-athlete Shiv Kapur the first week; Victor Lechtenberg, dean of the School of Agriculture, and Physics on the Road program coordinator Julie Conlon the second week; university landscape architect John Collier and Murray Blackwelder, senior vice president for advancement, the third week; former U.S. astronaut Guy Gardner and Science Bound program director Wesley Campbell the fourth week; and Linda Katehi, Dean of the Schools of Engineering, along with Maricela Alvarado, director of Purdue's new Latino Cultural Center, in the final program of the year.

The half-hour program has a total of 13 installments for statewide distribution. Each program includes a campus news update, feature segments and two studio interviews. The show also is available on the Web.

Presented jointly by Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) and the Office of University Relations, the program airs each year during the months of January, February and March.

The program appears on four PBS television stations in Indianapolis, Merrillville, Fort Wayne and Evansville, reaching a total viewer audience of nearly 1.2 million, plus millions more on cable systems throughout Indiana, the Chicago area and one county in Kentucky.

In Lafayette-West Lafayette, the program can be seen on WFYI-TV (Channel 20) at 11 a.m. Sundays for the remainder of the schedule. The show also is available locally every Tuesday at 11 a.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m. on Insight Communications Cable (Channel 13). On Purdue's West Lafayette campus, the program airs every Monday and Friday at noon and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. on Purdue Video Channel (Channel 4), the Purdue Channel on Insight Communications (Channel 5) and the University Residences Television Antenna System (Channel 15).

Outside the Lafayette-West Lafayette area, the program can be seen as follows:

• Indianapolis area on WFYI-TV (Channel 20) on Sundays at 11 a.m. The program also airs on Ideas! (20.3 digital) every Saturday at 10 a.m., 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.

• Northwest Indiana and Chicago area on WYIN-TV (Channel 56) every Sunday at 7:30 a.m. CST.

• Fort Wayne area on WFWA-TV (Channel 39) every Sunday at 6:30 a.m.

• Evansville area on WNIN-TV (Channel 9) every Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
