WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. -- Consumer advocate and host of the syndicated series "Fight Back! with David Horowitz," will share his message of consumer rights at 8 p.m. Nov. 11 in Fowler Hall, Stewart Center, Purdue University.
"The Business of Business in the '90s," will be the topic of Horowitz's address. Sponsored by the School of Consumer and Family Sciences and the Department of Consumer Sciences and Retailing, the lecture is part of the Eva Goble Lecture Series.
The program is free and open to the public, but reservations should be made by Nov. 8 by calling 765-494-7890 or 1-800-535-7303.
Also during his visit, Horowitz will speak to a group of industry leaders at an executive summit to be held Nov. 12. The summit will provide instruction from industry professionals and consultants about methods of measuring customer satisfaction.
Horowitz, winner of more than 400 awards, including 11 Emmys, is recognized as one of America's leaders in consumer advocacy. He is the author of numerous newspaper columns and books. In addition to his syndicated radio and television programs, he is founder of the nonprofit Fight Back! Foundation for Consumer Education. The foundation was created in 1989 to promote public awareness of consumer issues and to interest young people in careers as consumer affairs professionals.
In 1985, Purdue became the first university to establish a student chapter of the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals. The chapter made a connection with Horowitz's foundation, and in 1991, Purdue's Department of Consumer Sciences and Retailing joined the Fight Back! Foundation in starting a national internship in consumer affairs. The internship is open to students nationwide enrolled in consumer-related programs and offers six hours of college credit transferable to most colleges and universities across the United States.
