Finckel, who performed at Purdue in 2001 with his other group, The Emerson Quartet, and Han will trace the path of Romanticism in music through the entire 19th century. Finckel and Han's repertoire almost spans the entire literature for cello and piano, with an equal emphasis on the classics and the contemporaries, said Kerry Schutt Nason, Purdue Convocations director of marketing.

Nason said they also have become widely recognized for their initiatives in expanding audiences for classical music and for guiding the careers of countless young musicians.

In 2003, Finckel and Han started Music@Menlo, a new chamber music festival in Silicon Valley that has attracted widespread attention and international acclaim for its innovative programming and world-class artist roster, Nason said. In 2004, Finckel and Han were named artistic directors of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
