Purdue Galleries to be site of Valentine's dinner for drawing winnersWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue University Galleries will serve as a special dinner backdrop for four couples who were winners in the "Hearts & Art" Valentine's Day promotion co-sponsored by the Galleries and the Purdue Student Union Board.
At 7 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 14), each of the couples will be treated for dinner for two in the Robert L. Ringel Gallery in the Purdue Memorial Union. The dinner will include an Italian meal served by Purdue Union Catering, a bouquet of roses from Rubia Flowers, Wabash 9 movie tickets, Purdue Student Union Board movie tickets and passes to go bowling at the Purdue Memorial Union Recreation Center.
"By collaborating with the Purdue Student Union Board, we've developed a new way to make the campus art galleries a unique experience for Purdue students," said Mary Ann Anderson, assistant to the director of Purdue Galleries. "'Hearts & Art' gives them the chance to appreciate the artistic atmosphere of the Galleries and treat their date to a very special Valentine's dinner."
A drawing was held on Feb. 7, and four couples were selected: Mariah Drazer and date Kevin Marine; Emilie Larson and mom Dianne Larson; Jonathan Beever and date Sarah Paul; and Gregory Lyman and date Jackie Tabor.
To be considered for the drawing, students were asked to write out the reasons they wanted to win dinner in the gallery. The winners range from a couple who make a point of seeing each art exhibit together to a young woman who wants to thank her mother for all she has done. The Robert L. Ringel Gallery and the Stewart Center Gallery are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday; from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. All Purdue Galleries exhibitions and events are free and open to the public.
