Purdue extends snow recess, classes to resume Thursday

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University has extended a snow recess that will suspend all classes and most university operations for all of Wednesday (Feb. 14). The university will resume its normal operating schedule beginning at 6 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 15).

Although Purdue crews have cleared snow from most areas of campus, university officials suspended operations at the request of Tippecanoe County government officials because of concerns about outlying road conditions. University officials on Tuesday (Feb. 13) initially declared a snow recess that was to have ended at noon Wednesday (Feb. 14).

Most university employees will not report for campus duty until 6 a.m. or later on Thursday (Feb. 15). Some personnel are required to stay on campus for all or part of the duration of the snow recess to maintain the university's essential operations. Those personnel are determined by their departments and include, but are not be limited to, key personnel in the residence halls, student health care center, food stores, physical facilities, Memorial Union and transportation services. Emergency housing and meals will be provided at university expense for those who are required to remain.
