Purdue Student Wellness Office to offer spring break safety tips

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue University Student Wellness Office will sponsor its annual Safe Spring Break Week from March 5-9.

The goal of the campaign, now in its sixth year, is to provide students with information on how they can have a healthy and fun spring break. During the week, students will learn about basic topics, including sun and travel safety, alcohol poisoning prevention, sexual health, sexual assault prevention, and tattoo and body piercing safety.

"Safe Spring Break Week educates students about health issues associated with spring break and encourages students to make safe and healthy choices while on vacation," said Jessica Trimble, an education coordinator in the Student Wellness Office.

Safe Spring Break "Survival Kits" will be available in Ford Dining Court from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and in Earhart Dining Court from 5:30-7 p.m. on March 7. The kits will include items such as an alcohol poisoning information card, emery board, toothpaste, mouthwash and temporary tattoos, along with spring break safety tips.
