Appointments and promotions:

*  Kristin Hynes is the new administrative assistant in the Office of Planned Giving. For the past two years, Hynes served as assistant to the regional director with Crown Financial Ministries. Prior to that, she performed technical support within Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. She graduated from Milligan College near Johnson City, Tenn.

Campus activities:

*  Scott Ksander, acting chief information security officer for Information Technology at Purdue, will speak about how to protect your identity from being stolen at 10 a.m. March 6 in Stewart Center, Room 206. During the Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Committee professional development presentation, Ksander will discuss the threats that exist in both the physical and virtual worlds. He also will discuss what to do if you have already been victimized.

Faculty and staff honors:

*  Stephen Elliott, an associate professor of industrial technology, has been named a University Faculty Scholar for the College of Technology. Select associate and full professors who have been tenured within the last five years are awarded this distinction in recognition of their scholarship. Faculty scholars, nominated by committees from their academic areas and approved by the provost, receive additional funding to support their research
