Krannert doctoral students to sponsor blood drive, give away prizes

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A student-led blood drive will give anyone who comes to the Krannert Drawing Room from noon until 4 p.m. on April 9 a chance to win up to $300 in gift cards.

The Krannert Doctoral Student Association is sponsoring the event, but participation in the blood drive is not necessary to be eligible for the prizes. Anyone who guesses how many candy hearts are in a jar will have a chance to win a $250 gift card from Best Buy or a $50 certificate from Buffalo Wild Wings.

"Previous blood drives showed a 50 percent increase from the spring to fall, so we're heading in the right direction," said Bart Sharp, a doctoral student in strategic management. "We're grateful to the donors within Krannert who supplied us funds for the gift certificates, and hope everyone will come and try their hand at this traditional guessing game."

The Krannert Doctoral Student Association strives to improve the research and teaching environment for Krannert's doctoral students. The group acts as a liaison between Krannert doctoral students, the Krannert Dean's office, the Krannert Computing Center, the Management and Economics Library, and the Office of Doctoral Programs.
