Purdue Musical Organizations groups to present spring concerts

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Musical Organizations will end the school year with a series of spring concerts featuring a variety of vocal groups."Spring is always an exciting time for Purdue Musical Organizations," said Brian Breed, director of Purdue Musical Organizations."

The spring performances give the campus and community a final chance to see the groups before the end of the school year. It also is a very sentimental time for the student performers who are seniors because they will say their final goodbyes to their performance groups that are very much their family."

The first performance is "Best of Broadway," which features the All Campus & Community Chorale and the Purdue Bells. It will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday (April 17) at First United Methodist Church, 1700 Indiana 26 W. The performance is free and open to the public.

On Saturday (April 21), the Purduettes will be featured at the Holiday Inn Select, 515 South St., Lafayette. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m., and the group will perform classic hits and contemporary songs. A dinner also is available before the performance for $25, with Jay Bailey featured on the piano during the meal. Tickets to the performance only are $15 for adults and $12 for students and children.

The group Heart & Soul will pay tribute to Morgan Guice, a Purdue student and Heart & Soul member who died in a car accident during spring break, at a performance at 5 p.m. Sunday (April 22). "Family" will be presented in Stewart Center's Loeb Playhouse and will feature selections from the recently re-released, award-winning musical "Dreamgirls." Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and children.

The Purdue Varsity Glee Club will present its End of Season Concert at 8 p.m. May 12 at Long Center, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette. Featuring material from the group's entire season, the concert also will give seniors a chance to say a final farewell. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and children.
