Purdue police arrest student on battery charge

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue police early Wednesday (April 18) arrested a student after he allegedly assaulted another student.Jonathon Jose Gomez, 18, a freshman in the College of Liberal Arts from Hobart, Ind., faces a preliminary charge of battery. He was taken to Tippecanoe County Jail and incarcerated

Purdue police Lt. Fred Davis said officers were called to McCutcheon Residence Hall around 12:30 a.m. when a student knocked on a resident assistant's door before losing consciousness in the hallway. He had regained consciousness by the time police arrived and was taken to Home Hospital. Davis said the student sustained several facial injuries.

According to police reports, Gomez and the victim were in another student's room when they began to argue. Gomez then reportedly punched the student several times, Davis said.
