Commissioning ceremony to include senior ROTC students

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Approximately 50 graduating seniors will be commissioned into the U.S. military during an annual ceremony at 11 a.m. May 11 in the Purdue Memorial Union South Ballroom.

The graduating seniors from Purdue's Army, Air Force and Navy ROTC programs will be commissioned as second lieutenants and ensigns. Maj. Gen. Richard B. Moorhead, commanding general of the 38th Infantry Division of the Indiana Army National Guard, will commission the students.

Moorhead began his career as an officer in the U.S. Army in 1975. He joined the Indiana Army National Guard as a first lieutenant in 1979. Before his current assignment, he was commander of the 76th Infantry Brigade (Separate) and served as commander of the Coalition Joint Task Force Phoenix for the Afghanistan National Army Rotation III.
