Mackey Arena Complex news conference set for Friday (May 18)

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - An $82.3 million project that represents the greatest single investment in Purdue athletic facilities since the renovation of Ross-Ade Stadium could take its first step forward Friday (May 18).

University trustees will meet Friday morning (May 18) to vote on hiring an architectural firm to design an expansion of Mackey Arena. If approved, a news conference will take place at 2 p.m. on Keady Court in Mackey Arena, followed by a satellite uplink from 5-5:15 p.m.

Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Morgan Burke, men's basketball coach Matt Painter, associate athletic director Ed Howat and trainer Denny Miller will be available for interviews, as will Brittany Dildine, a two-sport senior athlete from West Lafayette. They will discuss what the Mackey Arena project would mean for fans, the university's sports programs and student-athletes. The scope of the project is contingent upon developing a successful fundraising campaign.

In addition to the satellite uplink, a news release will be available at after the news conference. For any questions regarding the satellite feed, contact Tom Schott, Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics, at (765) 494-3145 or Dave Kitchell, Purdue News Service, at (765) 496-9711.
