Miss Purdue to compete in state pageant this week

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Miss Purdue University Kelli Hoffman will be among the 27 women competing in the 2007 Miss Indiana pageant this week in Zionsville, Ind.

The Miss Indiana scholarship begins Wednesday (June 20) and continues through Saturday (June 23) at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center.

Hoffman, 22, of Columbia City, Ind., is a senior majoring in agricultural education. She was crowned Miss Purdue in March over a field of 17 competitors.

During the pageant, she will compete in five areas: interview, eveningwear, swimsuit, talent and an on-stage question. Hoffman will sing for the talent portion of the pageant, and her platform is Project HOW: Handicapped is Only a Word.

Along with the competition, this week Miss Indiana contestants will make appearances in the Zionsville community, including a trip to Riley Hospital for Children and the Miss Indiana parade on Saturday.

Miss Indiana travels throughout the state raising scholarship money, advocating her platform and representing the Miss Indiana Scholarship Organization. She will represent Indiana at the Miss America pageant in 2008.
