Purdue University President France A. Córdova makes a green commute by riding her bike to the Wade Utility Plant for a meeting to discusses its abilities and environmental impact during Green Week at Purdue University on Thursday, September 18, 2008. Purdue students, faculty and staff, along with the surrounding community, are spending the week focusing on environmental issues, from sustainability to recycling to alternative energy.

Events include an alternative transportation challenge that will reward those who log the most miles walking, biking, busing or carpooling. Students and the community will join forces Friday (Sept. 19) to clean up the banks of the Wabash River near campus. (Purdue News Service photo/Andrew Hancock)
